The 49 artists in the Circle of Truth worked in secret, deprived of information, including the identity of the other artists so Paul Ruscha did not know that his friend Doro Hofmann created the painting that he was responding to. Paul Ruscha wrote the preface for the exhibition catalog and was a pivotal component in the Circle of Truth project. Once his painting and essay were complete I reached out to him a number of times for his feed back and editing of the catalog as well as his assistance in connecting with some of the artists.
An excerpt from Paul's essay
"I got the feeling from the painting that was brought to me, that it's motion of falling through space was like careening in an uncontrolled path of unfinished fate. I feel that the word, falling, made me recall that delicious taste of love."
